Iron ore, fluxes and coal are necessary for the production of steel at integrated steel mills. During the 2019-2020 fiscal year, SAIL produced a total of 32.406 million tons of all these minerals, which is almost 4% more than in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year. By the way, SAIL was also the largest producer of crude steel for the fiscal year 20 in India.
It is important to mention here that SAIL fully meets its iron ore needs from its mines. The need for coal is met through imports and domestic sources, including its mines. The demand for flows is met partly from its own sources and partly from imports and other local sources. The PARUS mines are managed by the Company's Raw Materials Division.
