PJSC Dneprovsky Metallurgical Plant (DMZ), part of the DCH Steel group of DCH businessman Alexander Yaroslavsky, has completed the transition to continuous casting and has begun developing a new type of rolled product. It is clarified that the rental campaign lasted from November 12 to 22, seven days a week, and was very intense. Due to a decrease in the volume of orders, the workshop worked on a two-shift schedule for the first time - it was necessary to produce a wide range of products and conduct important experiments. Constant air raid alerts and risks of power outages made work difficult.
“This was one of the most intense campaigns in recent years. The workshop team was well prepared and successfully completed production tasks. They worked even faster than planned and did not allow a significant overconsumption of energy resources,” noted Deputy General Director for Production and Technology Yuri Mikhailov.
According to him, during the campaign they produced a standard set channels from 14 to 30. We also rolled 1.4 thousand tons of channels according to European standards, small volumes of angle 125 and shaft stand SVP-22. Deliveries of blanks to the DMZ began two weeks before the start of productionodstva.
U100, U120, U140 and U160 channels were produced for the European market. Testing of the rolls, a small batch of which the company purchased abroad in the summer, continued - based on the test results, the company plans to continue cooperation with the new supplier.
The workshop also began mastering the production of the Ø60 wheel.
"Structurally, the 550 wheel differs from those on which wheels are usually made. However, the experiment showed that the workshop could potentially produce this profile. Several blanks were passed through the production line, and technical issues that needed to be worked on were identified. We will move forward step by step,” Mikhailov said.
The next production campaign in rolling shop No. 2 is planned to be carried out in February.
As reported, DMZ for 7 months of 2025 reduced rolled steel production by 23.1% compared to the same period last year - to 26 thousand tons.
DMZ in 2024 reduced rolled production by 59.4% compared to from 2023 - up to 42.9 thousand tons, coke by 1.2% - up to 289.1 thousand tons. 292.7 thousand tons.
In 2022, the plant reduced production of rolled products by 74.2% compared to 2021 - to 58.4 thousand tons, coke - by 56.3%, to 211.3 thousand tons.
DMZ specializes in the production of steel, cast iron, rolled products and products made from them.
DCH Group signed a purchase agreement on March 1, 2018 Dneprovsky Metallurgical Plant at Evraz.
