The company's communications director Dorian Dumitrescu said: “In the context of the global economic downturn caused by the pandemic of the new coronavirus, Liberty Galati announces that it needs to temporarily reduce its activity and partially introduce leave for the coming period. The decision was made after the implementation of many other measures, such as replacing contractors with their own personnel and cost management measures. The company seeks solutions and works closely with trade unions and authorities to minimize social impact. associated with such decisions.

Administrative staff will go on vacation for only three days, while the rest of the staff will only be able to use the vacation if they refuse or are not qualified to do other work than the one for which they were hired.

Liberty Galati, located in the southeast of Romania, is the largest metallurgical plant in Romania and the leader in the production of metallurgical products with a production capacity of 2 million tons of steel. The metallurgical plant in Galati employs 5,100 people, of which 1,500 are administrative staff.
