This is critical to ensuring fair trade in the US steel market

The US International Trade Commission (ITC) today found that the cancellation of the countervailing duty order against Turkey and the anti-dumping order against Mexico could lead to continuation or recurrence of material damage to the domestic valve industry within a reasonably foreseeable time frame. All five commissioners voted for the domestic industry. As a result, the execution of these orders will continue for at least another five years.

The Commerce Department previously determined that if orders were canceled, Turkish manufacturers would resume using subsidies of up to 4.02%, while Mexican manufacturers would return to dumping rebar in the US market at rates up to 66.70%.

“We welcome the final decision and thank ITC and the Department of Commerce for their hard work in these cases and for their strict adherence to US trade laws,” said Alan Price, chairman of Wiley's international trade practice and advisor to the Rebar Trade Action Coalition. "ITC's conclusion is critical to ensure fair trade in the US steel market and to provide ongoing assistance to US manufacturers and their workers."
