The Ministry of Economy of Ukraine may limit the export of scrap metal until the end of 2022 to avoid a shortage of raw materials for the domestic steel industry and reduce steel production.
It is still in the draft resolution and awaits government approval.
The domestic steel producer appealed to the government to take protective measures, as scrap exports increased significantly due to the rapid rise in foreign prices.
However, even if the restrictions are approved, the country will not stop exporting to the EU and some other countries, as these countries have signed free trade agreements with Ukraine.
