American aluminum company Alcoa increased its net income by 12% in the fourth quarter, with adjusted figures and revenues being better than analysts' expectations.
As reported in a company press release, its net income in October-December amounted to $226 million, or 85 cents per share, versus $202 million, or 76 cents per share, for the same period last year. Earnings excluding one-time factors rose to $1.26 per share from $1.04 per share.
Revenue fell slightly to $3.45 billion versus $3.49 billion a year earlier.
Experts surveyed by FactSet on average expected adjusted earnings of $0.93 per share on revenue of $3.27 billion
Alumina production rose 1% in the fourth quarter compared to the previous three months - up to 2.48 million tons. Aluminum production increased by 4% to 604 thousand tons.
